Combining the knowledge of acupuncture with modern medicine has improved our methods for treating fertility/ infertility. There is no sure treatment, but you do have a choice. Acupuncture

Oriental medicine has been around for thousands of years, and has provided us with a unique and holistic approach to help prevent and treat disease. Western science and Traditional Chinese Medicine ultimately rely on the body's natural healing ability to maintain health and protect against disease. Both have the same goal of helping a person stay healthy. Western science tends to use drugs and surgery as needed. Acupuncturists tend to use gentle needling and herbs. A combination of both systems creates an ideal environment of health and healing. While acupuncture can not cure sterility, it can improve physiological processes in the body that enhance reproductive function in patients who do not have absolute barriers for conception. Acupuncture has been found to be beneficial in regulating the menstrual cycles, increasing the blood flow to the uterus and the ovaries, and reducing stress. Acupuncture also helps with implantation rates and provides excellent support for patients undergoing assisted reproductive treatments such as IVF or IUI.

There are many studies that have looked at how acupuncture helps improve fertility, conception and pregnancy. However, as with most research related to complementary treatments, there isn’t enough evidence to definitely prove (or disprove) its efficacy.

IVF Acupuncture

Your first consultation will take between an hour fifteen minutes to an hour and a half, as together we take your medical history, discuss lifestyle and dietary factors, and the history of any previous pregnancies and cycles. We will request that you bring your test results if any, and any other important information to enable your treatment to fit your individual circumstances. This also forms the basis for ongoing treatment. We are highly experienced in treating women who are having IVF. We consistently update our methods by consulting the latest research as part of our fertility treatment

We always recommend you begin a course of acupuncture treatments three months prior to commencing IVF treatment but if this is not the case acupuncture may still be able to help you by:

Managing the side effects which can occur with IVF medication
Helping with the Stress Response
Improving endometrial receptivity
Improving egg quality
Improving blood flow to the ovaries and uterus.

Dr. Oropez helped me with both my pregnancies. After a couple miscarriages, I decided to do IVF. I started seeing Dr. Oropez a few months prior to my embryo transfer. He was very knowledgeable about the IVF process. I had only one healthy embryo and was worried about the transfer failing. I saw Dr. Oropez the day before transfer and immediately after transfer. He was very accommodating and even brought his set up downstairs because he didn't want me going up a flight of stairs. The transfer worked! My son is now a year old.
